Joyas Voladoras Analysis - Simmone Johnson

"Joyas Voladoras", by Brian Doyle I noticed that his writing style is based off of what he’s writing about at the moment. He wants the reader to acknowledge what he’s feeling. Brian Doyle creates an image with his words, also he makes sure that every word he uses is very crucial to the story. He uses a lot of adjectives which makes it very wordy. When I reach the final paragraph he is transitioning from animals to humans, he makes the pace equal to the pace of a human heart beat. Then he uses real sayings that connect with a human beings heart and or mind to have you truly think about these occurrences in your lifetime. With the mammals and birds he gives a bunch of background information and how their hearts work. When he transitions to the human heart he doesn’t give much background, he just goes straight to the feelings we can receive as humans from the heart.

In the concluding paragraph I would explain the specific details that the author introduced in the end to support the statement about the human heart. I would basically tell them to think about something that had an effect on their heart like the line that says “a cat with a broken spine dragging itself into the forest to die” he wanted this ending paragraph to be the most simplest. Something that was easy to relate to for the human reader because we all of a story, and or emotion to something that we have experienced. This I feel is the best way to get through to your reader by giving examples of things that are being experienced by someone every day.
